Project Background
The Oshodi to Ikorodu BRT System project is a pivotal initiative aimed at enhancing transportation connectivity and efficiency in Lagos State. This project, financed by the Lagos State Government, AFD, and the World Bank, addresses the pressing need for improved public transportation infrastructure along the Oshodi to Ikorodu corridor.
Statement Of Problem
The existing transportation infrastructure between Oshodi and Ikorodu is insufficient to meet the growing demands of commuters. Congestion, limited capacity, and inadequate facilities hinder mobility and economic development in the region. Recognizing these challenges, the Lagos State Government initiated the Oshodi to Ikorodu BRT System project to address these issues and provide a modern, efficient public transportation solution.
Proposed Solution
The project involves the construction of a dual carriageway consisting of six lanes, along with associated BRT infrastructure. This includes BRT terminals, depots, bridges, pedestrian bridges, BRT bus stop stations, shelters, roadways, street lighting, and building infrastructures. The aim is to create a seamless and efficient BRT system that improves mobility and accessibility for commuters.
